Ring shopping

Chris and I went today to a gemstone mine to get my wedding/engagement ring.
(He had hand-carved a wooden engagement ring previously, but it broke.)

We spent quite some time looking at the rings and I could see the irritation on the lady's face who was helping us. She said I was very indecisive. The thing is - don't rush me when I am choosing a ring that I will wear for the rest of my life, a ring that shows the love and commitment that Chris and I have for each other. I tried on rings, some weren't right, others were too small. Then just as we were about to give up, I saw it. Now I had been staring at the same ring section for a while and only saw this ring at the last minute.

You're supposed to look at a ring and think "That's it, that's my ring!"

Now I have largish hands with long fingers, so wanted a ring that was bigger, but still feminine. I have always wanted a green gemstone (for it's healing properties) and green means growth; and no diamonds (from watching the movie Blood Diamond).

I then saw it. Tried it on and my heart fluttered with excitement.

It is silver with two joining bands and an oval Peridot gemstone (green) with a unique design. That is what a wedding/engagement ring should be - it should be unique. People you know should look at your ring and think "That's so you." It should be personal. My ring is all of this. Chris and I couldn't have picked a more perfect ring. I am glad we went through this experience together.

I keep staring at it over and over again. I keep smiling when I do.

I am the happiest and most luckiest woman in the world.

Thank you my-hubi-to-be.
